주인의식을 가진 적극적 참여를!

  존경하는 중앙 펜실베 니아 지역 동포 여러분 에게 2007년 정해년 을 맞아 가내의 평안과 안녕을 기원합 니다. 이제 중앙 펜실베 니아 한인사 회는 어려운 시기를 극복하 고 안정기 에 접어든 한인 1세와 미국주 체사회에 새로운 뿌리를 내리고 있는 차세대 가 어우러 진 2세대 3세대의 공동체 입니다. 이제는 서로의 어깨에 의지하 여 외로움 을 달래던 구시대 한인회 의 모습을 버리고 다음 세대에 물려줄 것과 버릴 것을 가려 현시대 가 요구하 는 새로운 모습의 한인회 로 재탄생 되어야 할 때입니 다.

  우선 한인회 는 몇 사람이 운영하 는 곳이라 는 관념이 바뀌어 야 합니다. 지역사회의 대표단 체로서 그 역할을 다하려 면 우리 지역한 인들의 주인의 식과 결집된 협조가 전제되 어야 합니다. 이번에 한인사 회의 운전대 를 맡게된 저에게 주어진 임무는 이 한인사 회를 닦고, 고치고, 기름쳐서 최대한 잘 구를 수 있도록 하는 정비사, 그리고 운전사 의 역할입 니다. 진심으로 동포 여러분 의 협조와 신뢰를 기대합 니다.

  올해는 행운을 상징하 는 복돼지 가 일년을 다스리 는 해입니 다. 먼 이국에 서 가족의 안정된 삶과 자녀의 미래를 위해 개척자 적인 삶을 살아오 신 여러분 께 올해는 정말 최고의 돼지해 가 되기를 빌어 봅니다.

  When Koreans first immigrated to America more than a century ago, they had been weak and powerless without having anything. But they, with fighting spirit and energy as pioneers, have tried to lay a strong foundation for Korean community. Now it is our turn to make it stronger for the betterment of Korean community. I admire my fellow Koreans with respect, who have done their best to well educate their children and to make such successful business in this community. Thus far, most Koreans have been proven diligent, tenacious, wise, and very talented in many areas. As such, the CPKA with your help can lay a stronger foundation for the next generations. If we can be united under one banner (the CPKA), we are able to overcome all kinds of troubles and difficulties surrounding us. I myself alone cannot do anything, because I am only a navigator of the CPKA Ship. We have corporate responsibility as partakers of this great journey for all of us. I am sure that we as a group can achieve our goals more effectively than as individuals, as proved in the history, -so called- Han Miracle. When reflecting on our history, we have not been good in being united even though we Koreans individually are smart and talented. Therefore, I really challenge you all to participate in all CPKA activities to change our image and to make a new history. The CPKA is the organization for all Koreans and their extended families, not for one or two individuals. As the 14th CPKA president, I will do my best to help and cooperate with other Korean organizations (e.g., churches, KAGRO, CPKSA, ...) in such a way to enhance mutual understanding and friendship. Now I ask your support, cooperation, and continuous prayer in this respect. As Governor Rendell pointed out in his special letter to the CPKA, I bless you all to get all kinds of blessings in the Year of Golden Boar. This year can be the best year at all corers of your life (home, works, and business). May God bless you all and CPKA!   Thanks.
