2006 Mexico Short Term Mission's Trip

Sara Chung

It's only been a mere week and a half since we've gone to Mexico, but now, that week seems so far away, as though it's been months. Our experience in Mexico cannot just be told through a person's words, but one must experience the mission himself, really to understand the works and miracles carried out by God. I can only tell you enough that hopefully you would be able to grasp the works carried out by Him during our short time there.

Our first day in Cacao is taped in the back of my mind and I could replay that moment, over and over again. After we had a group prayer for the school, a crowd of kids and number of adults rushed past us. They all took several quick, curious, and excited glances at us, as they filed into the school. The VBS had prepared a couple of

songs for us, and so we sat ourselves down, as the kids stood in two or three rows in the front with huge grin on their faces. They were beaming with the Holy Spirit as they sang to us. Many of us shed tears of joy and sorrow as we watched the kids sing with such vibrancy. Throughout the three days with those kids, we've grown so close... we were all scared of how we were going to say goodbye. On our last and final day at Cacao, we gathered the children around Pastor Daniel as he preached the word of God. Again, tears began to form, for this was a new beginning for these children. A new chapter of their lives that will impact them so greatly. When Pastor Daniel told them that it was time to say goodbye to the youth mission group, the kids rushed towards us and embraced us tightly. I must have cried buckets of tears that time. During my stay here, I've never seen the slightest frown on the children, but they were always filled with such energy and happiness. I just pray that even though I'm not there with them, they'll always have that same smile when we prayed with them.

My hope in this church is that the youth and the kids here will also have that same joy and energy when we come to church every Sunday, but not that look as though we've just been dragged out of bed. That the church will bring the children together and learn the Word of God because they deserve to know who this God is that our Sunday school teachers always speak of.

In all, I would like to thank all of you who have supported the 2006 Mexico Short Term Mission Trip and I would love to Thank God, because without him, I wouldn't be up here right now.
